Jennifer Garner, born April 17, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised within Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner was her father, and was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local college. In the hopes of following his father's path and earn an engineering degree in chemical technology. Her move to New York in order to fulfill her ambitions as an actor. When she was not appearing in Broadway productions, she also worked as waitress. Her former husband Scott Foley met her on the TV show "Felicity," where she was a guest. She got her big break in the action thriller "Alias." Her debut lead role as a character was the widely praised love story "13 going on thirty." The film starred her as an teen who was locked in the body the 30-year-old. Garner selected Gary Winick, who directed the film. She and Winick worked together to find other projects after his death. Garner received the title of an artist ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails promoting education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early childhood education. Garner, who has served as a member of the board since 2014, serves as an advocate of early learning. In her role as an ambassador, Garner visits often with families who participate in Early Steps to School Success the program which trains parents on ways to support youngsters in their learning.
